Ridemakerz is a great addition to Downtown Disney. Following in the model of Build a Bear part of the value of the purchase is the experience of putting the car together and having the flexibility to make changes in the future. With Build a Bear its the never ending clothing options while at Ridemakerz you can change out wheels, engines, side pipes, decals etc. Ridemakerz does offer online purchasing so if you don't live locally you can still have access to its accessory catalog. And just like Build a Bear I would not be surprised to see Disney related products appearing on the shelves although it was not announced at the recent opening. I found it humorous that the ZEO's son was playing with his well-loved blue Dinoco Lightning McQueen throughout most of the morning. Ridemakerz boasts that there are 649 million possible build combinations, not including individual decal designs. But the team at Ridemakerz is very helpful throughout the decision making and building of your dream ride. They were clear about my stock options vs. options that would incur additional cost and helped to explain why certain options were more than others. I greatly enjoyed wandering around Ridemakerz watching parents building cars with their children. I can envision seeing father and son or brother and sister side by side at the pit challenge preparing to go head to head. And while at Build a Bear I'm used to seeing large groups of girls wandering about comparing choices, at Ridemakerz it was predominantly boys comparing their choices to their friends'. While the base price is $10 I would definitely spend the additional $5 to be sure my car had working head and taillights, if you want remote control that's an additional $25 so I'd recommend being prepared to spend about $50 to get a remote control vehicle that feels uniquely yours. Here's a look inside Ridemakerz, the ultimate car customizing shop from opening day.

Base price for a free-wheel ride with all stock options (chassis, sound, tires and wheels), painted on headlights and taillights is $10. Selecting a ride with working headlights and taillights brings the base price up to $15. Remote control is an additional $25. Although most of the color choices are typical street choices like red, blue, black, they do offer a couple of pink options.

Add Ridesoundz to your ride. Each ride comes with a stock option but you can switch it out for another option for $3.
