It's best to be free of motion sickness and any physical condition that could be aggravated by this fast paced adventure through space. Not for the weak of heart. One of the most thrilling rides I've ever been on.

Not much of a thrill, but nonetheless, a classic Disney ride. The ride is very well-paced, and is very disorienting. (I rarely get dizzy on rides, but Space Mountain's Spinning tunnel lift, and the blinding break-run, which no matter how prepared you are for, will make your photos a joke, with you covering your eyes, or looking like your on drugs due to the intensity of the flash) The ride can be a little rough depending on your placement in the seats. (The last turn is the only one that goes to that side, an riding the turn-favoring side will leave your shoulders in a decent amount of pain for the rest of the day) I like the ride, and found that it was very easy to walk up an get on without a fass pass during my Nov.2008 vacation. My addvice is to not ride it 5 times in a row, even if it means having to confronting the crowds in Main St., watching the Joehanas Brothers, cause' you WILL come out dizzy...5/5

It's no competition for the big boys at Six Flags. But this is the best coaster in the park hands down. The lines get quite long so make sure to get a fast pass, your feet (and children) will thank you for it later. Make sure to smile for the camera upon exiting!

This is a great attraction. I remember riding it the first time back in, '77, was it? A rollercoaster in the dark was pretty innovative at the time, and seeing the rockets race through the dark through that large window in the queue they used to have added excitement to it. I think the new version is pretty effective too; it seems darker, and some of the effects are pretty cool. A fun, very smooth ride.

It is so good! I love the new version of Space Mountain. The older music is better as music to listen to, but the new music is better synchronized with the track.

This is now the very best ride in DL. The queue really gets you into the whole space vibe and the ride is so awesome! I give it a 4. It is great 'cause it really makes you feel like you are in space, and it is so dark that you never know when you are going to make a sharp turn. The ride is definetly worth the long wait.

Great ride. Glad it was back in time for our trip. It's been more than 10 years since I've been to Disneyland so I can't remember well enough to tell the difference between the old and the new.

As usual, Disney managed to outdo itself. The new Space Mountain (does it have an officialy name or something? I hope I don't sound stupid) is much smoother, darker, and electrifying than ever. With a new heart-pumping score by Michael Giacchino (who wrote the memorable "Incredibles" music) and amazing special effects, Space Mountain has wonderfully entered Disneyland into its 51st year. Everyone thinks that it has a loop, but it doesn't. In fact, the track is exactly the same...sort of. It is much smoother, and is new (the old track was torn down, the new one built. That's why it took 2+ years to make). Here is a ride-through in words:

An attention-getting chord rips us to the right as we go up a small hill, preparing to launch. We then encounter a meteorite shower while gaining speed and getting closer to liftoff. We then reach a gigantic chain hill, which then turns into a huge launching chute (you'll get what I mean when you go on it) that revolves you around. After launching, you climb several more feet, and then...you blast off! The building is entirely pitch-black (with the exception of stars and astronomical objects). You gain more and more speed, making quick dips, turns, and lifts. Eventually, you reach the space station once more and eagerly await another space shuttle!

the new ride is awesome. i cant tell the difference but itwas still cool. however i waited almost 3 1/2 to get on it, and the line moved s-l-o-w. I tried to get a fastpass but there was a 20 minute wait for one! THEY ACTUALLY HAD SWITCHBACK LINES FOR FAST PASS TICKETS! By the time i got close to the machine, they all sold out at around 9:30am!!
im not sure if i would have waited 3 hours if i did not have my best friends with me, but it was an awesome ride. Plan Accordinlgy if you want to ride without a 2 hour + wait.

Ride was closed for repair at 11:30pm, we waited 5 minutes. The line reopened, and we got on in 10 minutes. No 2 hour wait. Ride is SO worth it, no matter how long the wait. Do it! Go at the very end of the night or get a FastPass.

This ride is awesome in Retrospect. Lets hope it stays that way when they reopen it. I asked a staff manager at the entrance and she said that "the ride is complete and will undergo a major series of tests until its opening in May." The ride is supposedly faster, smoother(how much more smooth can it get, lol)and scarier. Oh and they said that they had complaints on that they let the fast pass people go for 20 mins and let then let 10 people from the stand-by line go. So i guess they got that done n good. So lets hope it lives up to the hype

The best roller-coaster I've been on, period, and I've been on many. It's dark, and you go at a pretty good clip, and you have no idea where you're going. A 100 foot drop isn't scary if you can see it - but a 50 foot drop can be terrifying if you don't know it's coming!

Not the scariest ride in the park. It doesn't have too steep of drops, and actually does not go that fast. The only thing that frightens me, is the tracks above you, seem to be only about a foot from your head. Although it is taller, it's just the illusion of it all.

COMMENTS, PART 2: If you are waiting in the regular(non-fastpass) line when this ride breaks down, you might as well abandon the cause...and leave the line. The Method behind my madness of thought here, is that all the FastPass holders tend to group up after the ride is operational again. Basically they hold the regular line until all the FastPass holder enter...delaying the regular line up to 45 minutes. Remember FastPass holders can come as late as they want! Also, let us say that the ride is having major problems, and you decide you want to stay put in case they are giving away backdoor passes for your troubles...guess again! The policy at Space Mountain is no matter how long the line is...from 10 minutes to 5 hours...if you are on the ride and get stuck on the track, you will get a re-ride pass. If you are waiting in line, inside the mountain, you have a 50/50 chance of getting a re-ride pass for Space Mountain only. Now, inside the moutain is defined as being able to see the loading dock and the coasters coming in and out. If you are outside the building, or in the hallways, you will leave the place empty handed...no matter how much you complain. Also if the ride breaks down in the last hour of operating hours, leave the line! Most likely when it goes down at the end of the night, it will not come back up...and you will wait for nothing...I have seen it happen. No one gets any passes unless on the track. The reasons it breaks down is mostly human error....about 90% of the time. This ride has very few mechanical errors...and is maintained very well. Inexperienced cast members do not time out the coasters right and they back up....they get a beeping warning sound, then the system is designed to shut down as a precaution. It takes approx. 20 to 30 minutes to bring it back up.

Worked at the Fast Pass venues at this ride. This ride can have one of the worst lines in the park. FastPass works like a reservation system, but one thing to remember if you do not get a FastPass ticket, is that cast members cannot control the amount of FastPass returns in a given hour. For example, if the system is set to print 200 tickets per 60 minute time period, one cannot expect that only 200 people will return during this time period. Because cast members cannot refuse a late fast pass holder, anywhere from the original 100 to more than 3x that number can come in that 20 minute time frame. If a ticket prints 11:20am to 12:20am, ticket holders cannot use it earlier than 11:20am, but CAN use it as late as 11:00pm. for this reason, sometimes you can expect to wait up to 45 minutes(busy seasons) in the FastPass line. Because cast members try to cut down on long FastPass lines, they basically stop the regular line, and send a few people every 5 minutes...meaning if you don't have a Fastpass at this moment of time, you are waiting for a long, long, long time... Sometimes, in the summer and winter, you can wait up to 4 hours, without a FastPass....So for this attraction, GET THE FASTPASS TICKET! Please, Get the FastPass ticket for this ride....because when waiting in line for a long time, if you get the opportunity to scream at a cast member for waiting...they will make sure that you and the people behind you wait even longer!

Absolutely exhilerating!This may surprise many people, but I find the ride itself more exciting than the Paris version - inversion loops are not everything. What the Anahiem version does need is the heavy industrial exterior design of its European counterpart.

This is one of my favorite rides. Especially with the new paint job, the outside dome is just gorgeous all lit up at night. The ride never stops being fun, and the music makes it even better. Many times late at night, like right around closing, you are able to just run through the line.

A true Disneyland Classic, Space Mountain has been thrilling guests for decades. Now with a new soundtrack by beach rocker Dick Dale, this high-speed thriller is bound for many more years to come at the Magic Kingdom! When this attraction first opened, the material used for the wheels of the coaster trains would heat up and wear down quickly, making the trains travel faster and faster through the dark show building - guests were very nauseated and dizzy from this deep space blunder; fortunately, some "rocket scientists" at WED took care of the problem and all systems are go!

A Disneyland classic, Space Mountain continues to thrill today's riders even with bigger and faster coasters all over the place. The Dick Dale music added a few years ago was a fantastic addition, and it makes the sharp, dark elements in the attraction realy come alive!
