This was the first roller coaster i had ever been on, and i loved it some of the best theming i've seen in the park.

This ride was the runaway favorite of my two girls, ages 4 and 9. It became the standard against which they judged all the other rides. It is tamer for adults, but still very fun, and the theme is absolutely first-rate, even beautiful. Even the queuing area is well-conceived.

Not quite as thrilling as Space Mountain but this one is definitely one worth the wait. My tip, ride it at night when the Fantasmic or the fireworks show is on, the view combined with the thrill is a combination made in heaven.

It's come a long way since it's donkey days...try to time your ride at night(around 9:30) when the fireworks are going off..it adds a whole new experience to the "wildest ride in the wilderness"...a must ride

Big Thunder Mountain is always fun. "Hold onto your hats and glasses, 'cause this here is the wildest ride in the wilderness'. I have a hunch that my husband loves it too because he changed our answering machine message to that quote when we were anticipating our Disneyland trip. He left if like that for about 6 months. This ride is great during the day when you can see all of the scenery and is exciting at night when you can't see the plunges in the track!

The mine train ride against which all others are judged. Extensive themeing, and a winding track make this a fun thrill ride for the family. The wait in line isn't even that bad due to the themeing along the line and it's high capacity. Always good, but at night it's better. SIT AS MUCH AWAY FROM THE FRONT AS YOU CAN, the further the better. This is a great attraction. Walt would be proud.

Great ride at DL, it can't be missed..but the FP sure can. I don't know why they need it here, with long trains and high capacity it's usually on a crowded day not longer than 30-45 minutes! Anyways, it's a great ride, as long as you don't find yourself in the 1st row...it's too boring.

Great ride! Now if Disneyland would only build The Great Western River Expedition in the former Big Thunder Ranch and beyond the north berm (using the water coaster technology that Seaworld FL has used and Michael Eisner likes so much) The origional plan to have the two (Big Thr. and River Exp.) attractions, in Frontierland would be complete!

Big Thunder Mountain is one of the most beautiful rides in Disneyland. It is exquisitly themed and filled with rich colors and textures, from it's rocky peaks to it's coppery pools. Although not the most thrilling coaster, it's scenery and charm make it my favorite Mountain in the park.

This ride starts out with lots of speed and turns, but I feel that the tail end of this attraction is a dud. I still enjoy none the less, but it doesn't compare to today's modern roller coaters. Also I must say I liked the original earthquake cave better where you could see the rocks falling towards you.

I remember purchasing a 1976 wall map of the park with a picture in the lower left corner and became very excited. At opening in 1979...it was a testament that Disney can take a roller coaster...and give it lots of theming! Though a bit short for my taste, and the last leg of the ride somewhat underwhelming. Another interior scene would do the trick. Still, in my heart, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will always get an "E" ticket rating.

I feel it is one of the BEST rides at the park. Our family would always have dinner at the "Casa Mexicana" restaurant then to right to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

This ride really is more fun at night, when the wind feels so great when the trains hit high speeds. It is better at the beginning then at the end,
though.

Too bad they didn't extend it into Festival of Fools area. In Paris you go under a lake and ride around an island..
WDW put plenty of track for their ride,Tokyo's really flies !! If
there was a way to extend the track..

I think this ride is a great ride. The train spins in circle's very fast. I love the first lift hill even though it's loud. This here the wildest ride in the west.

This IS the wildest ride in the wilderness (it's even wilder if you sit towards the back!) Ride it during the day and the night for two different, but equally great rides. Wonderful theming.
