Large Group (12) booked A Limo King for airport transfers - they did not show up - tried ringing on the number they gave us and could not get through - after 1 hour used Star Shuttle - only to find out when I got my Credit Card statement that they had still charged us, and refused to refund. This was part of a round the world trip and this was the only company that let us down. We will be staying at the Disney Pier Hotel at DL concierge any other personal comments on this Hotel? Large group (10) traveled to Dland Oct 8-14. We used A Limo King (10 passenger Van)for transportation to and from airport (LAX) directly to our Hotel for $288 (which included gratuity. Great Price, and Great Service; friendly, on time, clean, and great communication! i am 27 as is my husband. we took out 3yr, 4yr and 7 mo old on the train from seattle to la in dec 04. the ride is 35hours -- one overnight in coach. But for those looking to have a really inexpensive vacation with family i would recommend the train. sea to la is less than $550 for all five of us roundtrip. there is a kiddie car, sightseeing car and the seats aren't too bad for sleeping. just pack for 2 days and be prepared for some delays -- not a lot though. we took the supershuttle -- really bad service on the way to la station -- from la station to hotel near the park and they were fast -- about 40min and about the same price as taking train all the way to anaheim. we stayed at Jolly Roger, which was less spectacular than what the website made it out to be -- big surprise, but the anaheim visitor center was right there and the restaurant was nice. the pool was clean and the maid service really cleaned up. the one thing i learned from that trip is to make a detailed plan from others tips and your own experience in the park. ie -- i didn't realize how crowded fantasyland was. it took one hour to ride dumbo twice around lunchtime. plan accordingly. My family and I are staying at the Grand Californian Hotel in Sept. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on what to ask for at check in. And also what is the best character dining. Thanks so much When making reservations for a hotel, check their website and if you don't see what you want call the hotel directly. More often than not, you will get the better deal when calling the hotel directly. My 4 year old daughter ands i are staying at the HOLIDAY INN AT BUENA PARK.I wonder if anyone has stayed at this hotel, and what did you think? take lots of gum for going over the grape vine and be very careful of trucks we drive up from napa every few months, take water bottles some disney trivia and road games and stop in collinga at dennys, its an exact halfway point. Another comment: Years ago while working at LAX, I found that many visitors (mostly from overseas) had no idea of the distance from LAX to Disneyland. Many of them thought they could walk! It was hard to convince some of them, especially if they didn't speak much English, that Disneyland was not right next door to the airport. Amtrak is another alternative. Some hotels will pick you up at the Anaheim station (Located near Edison Field), or it's a not-too-expensive cab ride to the Disneyland area. One word of caution: if you have to make a connection at Union Station in Los Angeles, be sure to allow *plenty* of time. Last time, we missed our connection, and had to wait three hours for the next train! It would have been an hour and a half if we had taken an earlier train. Cab drivers were courteous and helpful, although I did have to show one how to remove the footrests from our wheelchair to fit it in his trunk! The Best Western Anaheim Inn is a wonderful Hotel. The maid service can't be beat, and it's directly across the street from the main entrance. Check the websites!!! I like to use the John Wayne airport when possible . It isn't as crowded as LAX . The Airport Bus service was our transportation to the hotel , $18 round trip . Air travel: I have found that airfares to San Diego are often much lower than those to any of the airports in metro LA. It's a 90 minute drive up I-5 from San Diego Airport to Anaheim (avoid rush hour however). I find that the best cars to rent are the ones at Alamo. They have the cheapest cars and the service is quick and easy. Note: Information in reader comments is sometimes based on rumors or incorrect information and should not be assumed true. On our Feb. 2000 trip to DL, we got a midsize car from Budget for $21 a day using an upgrade coupon that was only on their website. We're going again in Sep. 2000 and are getting a compact car from National for $17 a day using an internet only special offer.
Do your research, find what you think you might want, then check that company's website to see if they have a special offer for you. It could save you a TON of $$$.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn . They have a great staff and excellent maid service . We had a room with 2 double beds that were really small ! The room was just okay . McDonald's and Millie's restaurants are right in front so that was handy . It took about 5 minutes to walk to the DL entrance . In November we stayed at the Park Inn International . I liked the room better but the staff wasn't very friendly or helpful . The Park Inn room had a table for 4 so you had somewhere to sit and eat , the Fairfield didn't . Next time I am going to spend the extra money and go back to the DL Hotel - after you stay there it's just not the same staying anywhere else ! Each of these have their own websites so you can check them out .
