Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration

October 1, 1999 through January 1, 2001

Overview and the Wand
To celebrate the new millennium Walt Disney World has decided to throw a 15-month long celebration. The focal point of the Millennium Celebration is Epcot. From the wand atop Spaceship Earth to renovations to long-time Epcot favorites, Disney has pulled out all the stops. In this guide we'll give you some idea of what to expect during the Millennium Celebration.

Upon approaching Epcot you'll notice the huge geodesic dome Spaceship Earth has been adorned with a very large Mickey Wand and 2000 logo. The wand is over 25 stories tall and the numerals themselves are each 36 feet tall and covered with more than 250,000 reflective eye-catchers. On September 29, 1999 the Wand was dedicated by Walt Disney World President Al Weiss and President of Walt Disney Attractions Paul Pressler.
