On Monday, November 14, Gunnery Sgt. Derrick Poteat, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom from the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s S-6 communication platoon, was honored by the Disneyland Resort as he and his family “flipped the switch” on the lights blanketing “it’s a small world” Holiday, transforming the popular attraction into a visual wonderland and officially launching the holiday season at the Disneyland Resort. Poteat was joined by Disneyland Ambassador Jolie Hale, Sgt. Major Bryan Vaughan (ret.) of Anaheim’s 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Adoption Committee, and Michelle Strong, National Account Manager for Sylvania. Adding to the fun were Disney stars Mickey Mouse and Chip ‘n Dale. The ceremony took place in front of it’s a small world at Disneyland.
