LP Lotion: Limited Time Magic Brings Long Lost Friends Back to Disneyland

As part of the Disney Parks and Resort Limited Time Magic campaign, Disneyland’s Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree hosted a weeklong visit from a group of “long lost friends.” The friends are Disney characters, many of whom have not been seen in the Disney theme parks for several years. Guests voted in an on line poll to determine who would make an appearance.

The Jamboree offered five locations, with appropriate backdrops and title cards for ten sets of “long lost friends.” The following films and characters were represented.

• From Pocahontas: Pocahontas, John Smith, Meeko, Governor Ratcliffe;
• The Three Little Pigs: Fiddler Pig, Fifer Pig, Practical Pig, the Big Bad Wolf;
• Sleeping Beauty: Flora, Fauna, Merryweather;
• Mulan: Mulan, Mushu;
• Tarzan: Jane Porter, Terk;
• Robin Hood: Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Prince John, Sheriff of Nottingham;
• Duck Tales: Scrooge McDuck, Prof. Ludwig Von Drake;
• Hunchback of Notre Dame: Esmeralda, Clopin, Judge Frollo;
• Peter Pan: Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee;
• Lilo and Stitch: Lilo, Stitch.

Characters greeted guests at regular intervals, and were presented in a entry cavalcade with music and introductions. As part of the event, a special menu was offered at the food location. The Disneyland Band All-Stars, a lively group that played Dixieland-style jazz, provided stage entertainment.

In order to give the maximum number of guests the opportunity to meet all ten of the groups of ”long lost friends,” only one pose per family was allowed for photos, and no autographs were given. But anyone who wanted an autograph was offered a pre-signed card with the name of the film and facsimile autographs of each friend.
