Tinker Bell is Back!

For many guests their first glimpse of Tokyo Disneyland is on the elevated walkway from the Maihama metro station to the park entrance. Scattered along the length of the bridge are attraction posters and small bronze statues that American guests would recognize from the Central Plaza at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom.

However Tinker Bell disappeared one night last December. She might have gone to Neverland. But she never returned. This was not the first time that Tinker Bell had been stolen. The first incident occurred in 1995/6 and she did not return to her perch until the 15th anniversary celebrations in 1998.

The original pose saw Tinker Bell standing on the mirror, a classic Marc Davis image (that was actually one of his favorites), from the movie. This time her feet are firmly embedded in the heart of a flower to make it harder for would-be thieves to abscond with her.

So if you ever find yourself at Tokyo Disneyland remember to take a walk across the bridge to visit with Tinker Bell. Lets hope that this time she will be able to call the plinth home for a long time to come.
