Posted January 11, 2008

Charles Phoenix's "Disneyland" Tour of Downtown Los Angeles takes guests on a six hour school bus and walking tour of Downtown LA where you can experience the charm of Main Street, the exotica of Adventureland, the wilderness of Frontierland, the magic of Fantasyland and the future of Tomorrowland - all in the heart and soul of Los Angeles. Doug Marsh recently took the tour an here he documents it here. To learn more including the schedule, itenerary and prices, see the official site.

The Charles Phoenix's "Disneyland" Tour of Downtown Los Angeles takes approximately six hours, on foot and by school bus. It includes snacks at Olvera Street, a meal at Clifton's Cafeteria, and a cake and ice cream party at Bob Baker's Marionette Puppet Theater. The sights shown above are only a large part of the tour. Disneyland is unique in all the world. The word unique could also be applied to Charles Phoenix. A performance artist, he has parlayed a massive collection of "found" photo slides into a career that encompasses books, retro slide shows, and guided tours. One such tour is his "Disneyland" Tour of Downtown Los Angeles. While Phoenix may recognize that there is only one Disneyland, he nonetheless assures his guests, "The similarities between everyone's favorite theme park and the heart and soul of our city are staggering!" Like any good Disneyland host, Phoenix warmly greets each guest, and offers the kind of personal attention of which Walt Disney himself would approve. After checking in, it's time for the tour. (2)

Every visit to Disneyland starts in front of the train station. And so it is that everyone finds themselves in front of Union Station, ready to embark on a day's exciting journey through the other "happiest place on earth." (2)

Just as Disneyland tour guides are recognizable by their distinctive costumes, Phoenix makes it clear that he is the leader of this club. (2)
