On of LaughingPlace.com's long time sponsors, Howard Johnson Anaheim, will soon be unveiling their new water park - Castaway Cove. There were kind enough to send along this update...
Our new water park will be called, Castaway Cove. It is slated to open in July/August. Our secondary pool renovations in the rear of the property are just now being completed to expand the decking, add showers and raise the depth of the deep-end to a uniform five feet. This will now act as the hotels main swimming pool. The current Main Pool area will be completely re-purposed into the water park. The pool itself will be removed and replaced by activity decking, water elements, play areas, etc. Castaway Cove will have a pirate theme and the centerpiece will be a pirate ship complete with 30-foot mast. Renderings and photos of some of the equipment are below. Design and equipment is by White Water West, which is the company who built Legoland's Pirate Shores area. The existing Speedy's Sprayground will remain as this area is ideal for toddlers. The large 15-person hot tub will also remain. The pirate ship will be in plain view from the Monorail, Harbor Blvd., Manchester and from Mimi's Cafe. It will be lit at night for added effect and visibility. Entry into the area will have themed, overhead signage. We will be the only non-Disney hotel featuring a themed water park/pool facility with lifeguard in the city.
