LP Lotion: Tokyo Disneyland Hotel Grand Opening

On July 8, 2008 invited guests and members of the media congregated under the
Porte Cochere of the latest jewel in the Disney hotel collection - the Tokyo
Disneyland Hotel at the Tokyo Disney Resort. The Fab Five arrived in a replica
of an early motor carriage and were all dressed in exclusive new Victorian
clothing for the opening. They were joined by the opening party - Toshio Kagami,
Chairman & CEO of the Oriental Land Company, Limited, Jay Rasulo, President of
Walt Disney Parks & Resorts and Charles Besford, General Manager of the Tokyo
Disneyland Hotel and Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta. The final vehicle brought
Akiko Domoto, Governor of Chiba Prefecture and Hideki Matsuzaki, Mayor of
Urayasu. Four of the dignitaries spoke to the collected audience prior to the
ribbon cutting ceremony. The Fab Five presented them with special Mickey
Mouse-shaped keys for them to release the ribbons. Finally a group of additional
Disney characters and hotel cast members joined the opening party to welcome the
first guests to the hotel.
In future updates from the Tokyo Disney Resort Laughingplace.com will feature
photo essays of the hotel exterior, lobby and a selection of rooms including the
prestigious Walt Disney Suite. Imagineers Wing Chao, Executive Vice-President,
Master Planning, Architecture and Design & Gary Hasell, Principal Concept
Architect have granted exclusive interviews about the creation of the Tokyo
Disneyland Hotel to Tales from the Laughing Place Magazine. The interview and a
selection of artwork images and photographs will be in Issue 13 due out shortly.
