WDAC announces "Tea for Two"
The Walt Disney Classics Collection
Toasts Gus & Jaq from Walt Disney's Animated Classic Cinderella
New Tea Cup Sculpture Available at Open House Event November 13 and 14

This Fall collectors will find that Gus and Jaq, the tiny heroes from Walt Disney's animated masterpiece Cinderella, are just their "cup of tea" -- literally -- during the upcoming Walt Disney Classics Collection Open House Event, November 13 & 14 (international dates may vary). In the classic film, the clever little mice devise a plan to save their sweet "Cinderelly." Hiding in a teacup, they retrieve the attic key from the pocket of Cinderella's cruel Stepmother, who has locked her away, and they free Cinderella just in time for her to try on the glass slipper and win the heart of her Prince Charming.
At Disneyland the open house will be held at the Disneyana Shop on Main Street. Exclusive to Disneyland is a special gift with purchase, an engraved pewter spoon.
"Tea for Two" features two full figure sculptures of Gus & Jaq hiding inside a porcelain teacup. A specifically designed porcelain saucer with an Open House event backstamp has also been created by Royal Doulton to complement the WDCC sculpture as a purchase with purchase opportunity.
"Tea for Two" and the matching saucer will be available at participating WDCC dealers in North America from November 13-14 for a suggested retail price of $87/U.S. and $20/US respectively. As part of the event, members of the Walt Disney Collectors Society can also participate in a National Sweepstakes. Sweepstakes prizes include:
Grand Prize - - A full set of all the WDCC Cinderella scupltures released to date, including the sold-out limited edition sculpture of "A Lovely Dress for Cinderelly" and the retired Cinderella scene.
Second Prize - - Free Walt Disney Collectors Society Membership for the year 2000 (10 prizes awarded)
Third Prize - - Cinderella original soundtrack compact disc from Walt Disney Records (100 prizes awarded)
"Tea for Two" is the 12th release the Walt Disney Classics Collection has introduced from Cinderella. Many of the Cinderella sculptures have been retired or sold-out andare highly sought after today on the secondary market.
Cinderella is a long-time favorite among Disney collectors and movie fans alike. When it premiered in 1950, Cinderella was considered Disney's "come back" flim, giving the studio its first big hit after World War II. Based on the most famous fairy tale of all time, Walt Disney's Cinderella gave the age-old story new charm through the introduction of a brand-new cast of characters, Cinderella's loyal friends, the mice and birds. Gus & Jaq were the funny little stars of the bunch, bringing warmth and humor to the picture and ultimately saving the day for the lovely Cinderella.
