Disney Appoints a new Senior VP and Treasurer
McCarthy Named Disney Senior Vice President, Treasurer
On Thursday, December 9th, Thomas O. Staggs, Disney's executive vice president and chief financial officer for announced Christine M. McCarthy has been named senior vice president and treasurer of The Walt Disney Company. McCarthy will be responsible for all treasury functions for Disney, including risk management.
McCarthy, 44, previously was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Imperial Bancorp in Los Angeles, responsible for all financial activities at the $6 billion commercial banking institution including financial planning, reporting, controller activities, investments, asset liability management, strategic planning, investor relations, corporate properties and others.
"Christine has an excellent and broad background in financial activities and management," said Staggs. "Her proven abilities and track record make her the ideal candidate to lead our highly capable treasury department."
Before joining Imperial Bancorp, McCarthy advanced through a series of treasury and other finance-related positions of increasing responsibility during her 15 years with First Interstate Bancorp in Los Angeles. Her final post there was executive vice president, finance, in charge of investor relations, with corollary responsibilities for treasury-related activities.
A native of Wakefield, Mass., she holds a bachelor's degree from Smith College and an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA. McCarthy, and her husband, Michael McCormick, and their children, Daniel, 7, and Kelsey, 5, live in Pasadena, Calif.
McCarthy succeeds Paul Saleh, who earlier was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Walt Disney International.
