Disney to produce March 4th finale for Noche de Carnaval in Miami

Disney Salutes Hispanic Festival; Disney's Year-long Millennium Celebration Brings Pixie Dust to Miami for Carnaval

Disney sprinkles its millennium magic on Miami's Carnaval, the largest annual Hispanic Festival in the United States, as producers of the gala finale for Noche de Carnaval March 4 at the American Airlines Arena.

Walt Disney World is collaborating with Emilio Estefan to produce the six-minute grand finale of the 2 1/2-hour concert, Noche de Carnaval. Estefan will orchestrate a special version of the Walt Disney World millennium theme song, ``Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand,'' performed by singer Carlos Ponce, King of Carnaval. Richly decorated, two-story-tall puppets from Epcot's ``Tapestry of Nations'' procession, Sorcerer Mickey and a host of surprises will highlight the evening's agenda. The March 4 taping will air March 12 (8:30-11 p.m.) on Univision network.

Disney's portion of the show was inspired by the year-long millennium celebration at Walt Disney World Resort. Disney marks the turn of the century daily with a dazzling parade, pageantry of fireworks, grand innovations and multicultural festivities. The year-long extravaganza is wrapped in the theme, ``Celebrate the Future Hand in Hand.''

Carnaval is a ten-day festival featuring concerts, food, entertainment and more. More than a million people are expected to attend the festivities. The celebration continues with the Kiwanis Club recognition party March 10 at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, where Walt Disney World will present an electrifying millennium-themed fireworks display in honor of the Kiwanis 25 years of community service.
