Henry Ford Museum's IMAX Celebrates 1st Anniversary With the Return of Disney's Fantasia/2000

Henry Ford Museum's IMAX(R) Theatre Celebrates First Anniversary With the Return of Disney's Fantasia/2000

Henry Ford Museum's IMAX Theatre will celebrate its first year anniversary on Sunday, November 19 with the return of Disney's Fantasia/2000 The IMAX Experience. The film will be shown through December 31, 2000. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8.50 for seniors 62 and over and children 12 and under. They are on sale now at Henry Ford Museum by calling 313-271-1570.

Fantasia/2000 The IMAX Experience was first released in January 2000. Henry Ford Museum was one of only 75 theatres across the world and the only theatre in Michigan to show the film.

At the end of the exclusive four-month run, Henry Ford Museum's IMAX Theatre ranked among the top four IMAX theatres in box office sales worldwide behind Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City. Fantasia/2000 is the first feature-length-animated film to be formatted and shown in IMAX Theatres.

"Fantasia/2000 was a big contributor to the success of the first year," said Dave Brown, Director of IMAX Theatre and Visitor Services. "We received so many requests to see the film again, it only made sense to bring the feature back for a return command performance."

The film continues to build upon Walt Disney's dream of combining classical music with animation to create a stirring experience for moviegoers across the world. It contains seven new animated segments and one original, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," starring Mickey Mouse. A new generation of Disney animators and filmmakers bring to life the classical compositions by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Respighi and Stravinsky. To add to the fun, each segment is introduced on-screen by celebrity hosts including Bette Midler, Steve Martin, James Earl Jones, Penn & Teller and Quincy Jones.

Henry Ford Museum's IMAX Theatre originally opened November 19, 1999 and has since shown The Magic of Flight, T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous in 3D, Wolves, and Cirque Du Soleil(TM) Journey of Man in 3D. CyberWorld 3D is scheduled to open October 6th. Fantasia/2000 The IMAX Experience will join Cyberworld and Cirque Du Soleil(TM) Journey of Man in a daily schedule November 19 - December 31, 2000.
