Disney Channel Also "Lucky" With Tweens in March

Led by strong performances from its original movies "Zenon the Zequel," "Motocrossed" and "The Luck of the Irish," Disney Channel ranked No. 1 in prime time among tweens 9-14 (3.5 rating) for the first quarter of 2001.

For the quarter, Disney Channel had nine of the top 10 telecasts among tweens. In total day, Disney Channel is up 25 percent in tween viewership from a year ago and also up 25 percent in total viewership (persons 2+). In terms of total-day household ranking, Disney Channel took the No. 8 spot among all basic cablers for the quarter.

Disney Channel's original movie "The Luck of the Irish" (March 9, 2001) was the top movie for tweens for the quarter among both broadcast and cable television. The movie was also the No. 1 cable program of the quarter with tweens (13.4 rating), followed by "Zenon the Zequel" (Jan. 12, 2001) in the No. 2 spot, which garnered a 9.3 rating among tweens.

In March, Disney Channel ranked No. 1 with tweens in prime time (3.9 rating, 661,000 total tween 9-14 viewers) for the 10th consecutive month. Disney Channel had nine of the top 10 telecasts for tweens for the month. Versus a year ago, Disney Channel prime-time ratings are up 50 percent among tweens 9-14, 29 percent for total viewers 2+ and 14 percent among households. On a total-day basis, Disney Channel is up 45 percent among tweens 9-14, 25 percent for total viewers 2+ and 13 percent among households.
