Original Movie "Hounded" Collars Cable and Broadcast Competition
After taking the No. 1 spot in prime time for the first quarter of 2001 with both kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14, Disney Channel is again on top, ranking No. 1 with tweens in both total day (1.9 rating/tied with Nickelodeon) and prime time (5.1 rating) for the week of April 9-15, 2001.
Additionally in prime time, Disney Channel ranked No. 1 among all basic cable with persons 2+ (1.2 rating) for the week.
The Saturday telecast of Disney Channel's latest original movie, "Hounded," was the top-rated movie of the week among both broadcast and cable television with tweens 9-14 (9.6 rating) and teens 12-17 (5.2 rating). The Saturday airing was also the top cable movie of the week in persons 2+ with a 1.9 rating.
"Hounded's" premiere telecast (April 13, 7-8:30 p.m.) won its time period among all basic cable in terms of households (2.4 rating), tweens 9-14 (6.5 rating) and persons 2+ (1.4 rating). In that telecast, "Hounded" won the time period vs. all broadcast and cable competition with tweens. Versus a year ago, the movie's Friday premiere telecast was up in households by 140 percent, in tweens 9-14 by 150 percent and in persons 2+ by 180 percent.
In Disney Channel's latest original movie, Jay Marshall (Tahj Mowry) is Hounded when he accidentally kidnaps his principal's dog. Thirteen-year-old Jay is committed to getting the one scholarship available for the Peterson Academy; otherwise, it's off to his worst nightmare ... military school.
He proudly pours his heart into a presentation that is sure to be a triumph, until Ronny Van Dusen (Shia La Beouf) spoils his plans. His mean-spirited rival steals his speech and uses it in front of a packed auditorium.
Despite drawing up a plan to catch Ronny red-handed, Jay's plans are thwarted again, only this time it's the Van Dusens' obnoxious dog that gets in the way. Is Jay destined for fatigues and marching, or will he be able to pursue his dream at the Peterson Academy?
