All-Toon Channel to Debut the Emmy Award-Winning Series From Walt Disney Television Animation Jan. 7, 2002, at 4 p.m. ET/PT

Toon Disney, ABC Cable Network Group's 24-hour all-animation network, will add the Emmy Award-winning animated series "Disney's Teacher's Pet" to the channel's schedule, announced Jonathan Barzilay, senior vice president and general manager of ABC Kids and Toon Disney.

Produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, the series, including 18 previously unaired episodes, will air on Toon Disney Monday - Friday at 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning Jan. 7, 2002. New episodes will premiere on Fridays. "Disney's Teacher's Pet" will continue to air as part of "Disney's One Saturday Morning" at 8:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT on the ABC Television Network.

"`Teacher's Pet' is an ideal addition to Toon Disney," said Barzilay. "This critically acclaimed series perfectly complements the Toon Disney lineup, which continues to engage kids with a blend of classic Disney characters and contemporary animated series."

"Disney's Teacher's Pet" is the tale of a boy and his dog "Spot" -- a talking canine who yearns for the education afforded his master. Spot disguises himself as a boy, "Scott," in order to attend school and, as the title suggests, becomes the teacher's pet.

Two-time Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane voices the character of "Spot/Scott," a role for which he was honored with the 2000-01 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program. TV Guide declared the series "the season's most unforgettable cartoon," and Entertainment Weekly dubbed it the "season's best new cartoon series."

"Disney's Teacher's Pet" is produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. Gary Baseman is creator and executive producer. Bill Steinkellner and Cheri Steinkellner are co-creators and executive producers. Timothy Bjorklund is director.
