Alan Bergman Named Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer Of the Walt Disney Studios
Alan Bergman has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer, The Walt Disney Studios (TWDS), it was announced today by Richard Cook, chairman of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, and Thomas Staggs, senior executive vice president and CFO of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). Formerly vice president in charge of the Operations Planning group of TWDC, Bergman will now be responsible for the financial, strategic, and operational aspects of the Studio. He reports to both Cook and Staggs.
Commenting on the announcement, Cook said, "Alan is an essential member of the team. He comes to us with knowledge of both the Company and the Studio, which is a great asset to us now and will be even more valuable as our varying business interests continue to develop. We are thrilled to have him in this position and know he'll do a fantastic job."
"Over the last several years, Alan has played a highly successful part in a number of important strategic and operational initiatives, including our efforts to increase cost and capital efficiencies throughout the company," Staggs added. "He possesses a keen understanding of our Studio businesses and exceptional strategic and analytic skills. We are extremely pleased to have him bring those strengths to bear in this important role."
Bergman has been with Disney since 1996. Most recently, he was vice president of the Company's Operations Planning group, where he developed annual operating profit, cashflow and capital spending plans, as well as prepared quarterly and annual forecasts. He joined TWDC as a director in the Corporate Controllership group, with a focus on TWDS initiatives.
Before joining Disney, Bergman spent more than 7 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers working in their entertainment practice. He received a BA in economics-business from UCLA, and is a CPA.
