Jessie and Bullseye from Disney & Pixar's Toy Story 2 Gallop Off the Screen and Into the Walt Disney Classics Collection
Collectors Are Invited to Join the Round-Up as New Porcelain Sculptures "Ride Like the Wind" Into Stores
"The Toys Are Back in Town" and so are four all-new Walt Disney Classics Collection sculptures derived from Disney/Pixar's blockbuster computer animated feature Toy Story 2. Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl and Woody's faithful horse Bullseye are recreated just as they appeared on screen to help collectors relive all the fun and laughter of the hit sequel to the groundbreaking film Toy Story (1995).
Created in an open edition, the new sculptures are the first Walt Disney Classics Collection releases based on characters from Toy Story 2 and premiere at authorized retailer locations in March 2002. The sculptures include "Yee-ha!" (Jessie the Cowgirl / Height: 7 W) and "Ride Like the Wind!" (Bullseye / Height; 7 '/2") which are sold as a set (Suggested retail price US: $250 / Canada: $376). Each finely detailed character porcelain sculpture is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and possesses "plussing" elements such as Bullseye's pewter stirrups and tail. Also available are the resin record-player base (Suggested retail price US: $95 / Canada: $144) and the porcelain Opening Title plaque (Suggested retail price US: $29 / Canada: $45).
The new releases recreate the sequence in Toy Story 2 where Jessie the Cowgirl shows Bullseye and Woody how to have fun with a spinning turntable on child's record-player in the apartment of Al WcWhiggin, owner of Al's Toy Barn and avid toy collector.
"As created by popular Disney sculptor Bruce Lau, our new releases from Toy Story 2 perfectly capture the high-energy of Jessie the Cowgirl and the innocent whimsy of Bullseye," states Lee Zoppa, director of Walt Disney Art Classics, the fine art and collectibles division of The Walt Disney Company. "With the immense popularity of Toy Story 2 we felt compelled to add these two wonderful characters to the Walt Disney Classics Collection so that they could take their place right next to our other popular releases from 1998 from the original Toy Story film."
Toy Story 2 premiered in theaters on November 13, 1999, and went on to become a smash hit - - quickly becoming one of the Top Ten films of 1999. The film was honored with numerous awards including a Golden Globe® for Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical, Blockbuster Entertainment Award® for Favorite Family Film, Grammy Award® for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media ("When She Loved Me" - by Randy Newman) and an Oscar® nomination for Best Song ("When She Loved Me" - by Randy Newman).
