Disney Mobile Content to Be Distributed in Philippines
Walt Disney Internet Group and Globe Telecom Enter Into Content
Distribution Agreement; Disney Mobile Content to Be Distributed in PhilippinesWalt Disney Internet Group and Globe Telecom have entered into an arrangement that brings Disney Mobile branded wireless content to Philippine consumers for the first time via Globe Handyphone, the GSM cellular phone service of Globe Telecom.
Available now, the Disney Mobile service is offered on Globe Handyphone's WAP and SMS services and can be previewed on its wired Internet portal service at http://www.myglobe.com.ph. The content is based on Disney's lineup of classic characters, which includes Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck, as well as on modern classics, such as "Beauty and the Beast," "Mulan" and "The Lion King."
The Disney Mobile service can be accessed through SMS short codes or a WAP menu on the handset. The initial content offerings will be further expanded to include EMS and MMS content and other more advanced content, such as Java utilities.

Disney Mobile entered the Asian wireless market in the summer of 2000 with the launch of Disney-i on NTT DoCoMo's platform in Japan. Today, Disney Mobile has more than 2.5 million subscriptions in Japan, and the company has also signed wireless content distribution agreements in 14 international markets.
