Disney's critically acclaimed hit animated comedy, "Lilo & Stitch," is the top-grossing motion picture in America over the past seven days with an estimated gross of $55.6 million, it was announced today (6/27) by Chuck Viane, president of Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. In addition, the "Lilo & Stitch" Walt Disney Records soundtrack, featuring five classic tunes by Elvis Presley and two covers fit for "The King" by Wynonna and the A*Teens, claimed the top spot among all soundtracks for the week, selling 45,262 units (according to Soundscan), and the Deluxe Read-Along scanned 5,681 to rank #1 among all children's titles.

Commenting on the announcement, Viane said, "We're extremely proud of 'Lilo & Stitch' and ecstatic to see that audiences enjoy the film as much as we do. The success of the film is all the more remarkable when you consider that many of the tickets sold are at discounted children's prices. In fact, 'Lilo' has been in first place every day since Monday. We're thrilled."
