Famed Rock Group The Country Bears
Celebrate America with Televised Half-Hour Concert
The Country Bears Concert for America' Event to Air July 6th Across the Country
On July 6th, famed rock-country legends The Country Bears will reunite for their first concert in more than 10 years in a televised event called "The Country Bears Concert for America," according to an statement by Ted Bedderhead, lead singer of the Country Bears. The half-hour special, hosted by Downtown Julie Brown, will air on television across the country. Check local listings for showtimes in your area. Moviegoers can see the road to the Bears' reunion in the new movie from Walt Disney Pictures, The Country Bears, opening in theaters nationwide on July 26th.
Commenting on the announcement, Bedderhead said, "Sure, we've had our differences over the past decade. But the Bears -- we're family, man. We're proud to be getting back together to honor America on July 6th."
In the half-hour special, hosted by Downtown Julie Brown, viewers can get an inside look into the famous band, including a "backstage pass" and a chance to meet Beary Barrington, the Bears' number-one fan, who brought the Bears back together. In the special, the Country Bears also perform three of their biggest hits -- "Where Nobody Knows My Name," "Straight to the Heart of Love," and "Let it Ride."
In Disney's feature film The Country Bears, 11-year-old Beary Barrington has never quite fit in. He doesn't look like anybody else in his family; he thinks he might even be adopted! Looking for his higher purpose in life, Beary strikes out on his own to reunite his favorite band, the Country Bears -- Ted Bedderhead, Fred Bedderhead, Zeb Zoober, and Tennessee O'Neal -- for a benefit concert to save Country Bear Hall, the legendary venue where the band got its start. In his journey, Beary meets such legends as Don Henley, John Hiatt, Elton John, Queen Latifah, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, and Brian Setzer, but before long, he discovers the true meaning of family -- the people who accept you for who you are, no matter what.
