LPWire: 'Extra Magic Hour' Offers Disney Resort Guests Exclusive Time in a WDW Theme Park Every Day

'Extra Magic Hour' Offers Disney Resort Guests Exclusive Time in a Walt Disney World Theme Park Every Day

While the Walt Disney World Resort provides magical moments for everyone, guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can add even more to their day with the new “Extra Magic Hour.”

Each day, one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks opens for Disney resort guests one hour early, providing exclusive time in the parks to experience select attractions and meet and greet Disney characters. There is no additional charge.

The “Extra Magic Hour” is the newest benefit offered to Disney resort guests. Other benefits include:

  • Convenient Transportation -- Leave the car keys and parking hassles behind. At no additional charge, special boats, buses and monorails transport Disney resort guests directly to any area in the Vacation Kingdom, allowing guests more flexibility and convenience during their vacation.
  • Themed Resorts -- It’s not just a room. In the same way that Disney’s theme parks offer an escape to a timeless land of enchantment, a walk down small-town Main Street or a peek at the future, Disney’s resort hotels offer a mix of adventures. Disney Imagineers have created detailed and themed environments that include the romance and beauty of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Victorian opulence of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
  • Guest Services -- One call can do it all. Each Disney resort hotel offers guest services to arrange park tickets, dining reservations and tee times and to provide helpful hints on setting up other activities.
  • Vacation Setting -- Get away from it all. Just minutes from the activity of the theme parks, resort guests can take a midday break. They can kick back in a rocker at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, nap in a hammock at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, stroll down Disney’s BoardWalk or kick off their shoes and sink their toes into the sandy beaches of Disney’s Polynesian Resort.
  • Guaranteed Entry -- The door is always open. Even when the parking lots are full, resort guests using Disney transportation are guaranteed entry to all Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks.
  • Advance Dining Reservations -- Resort guests can make advance dining reservations for priority seating up to 60 days before their arrival at many of the more than 200 restaurants throughout Walt Disney World Resort.
  • Character Dining -- Meet Mickey and the gang. Select Disney resorts are home to Disney’s famous character meals. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort host character breakfasts daily.
  • Central Billing -- "Put it on my card." The Walt Disney World Resort identification card, which is used to charge food and merchandise, also has guests’ ticketing options encoded on the back. The resort ID card is issued upon check-in, and all purchases are charged to guests’ resort hotel accounts.
  • Preferred Tee Times -- Fore! Resort guests get preferred tee times at Disney’s six courses that total 99 holes of championship golf.
  • Lots For Tots -- Take time to unwind. Mom and Dad can drop off the kids at one of Disney’s childcare facilities, available to resort guests for a nominal fee. Kids ages 4-12 who are toilet trained can join in the adventures of Peter Pan at the Neverland Club at Disney’s Polynesian Resort or enjoy Disney classic movies, video games and toys at Disney’s Sandcastle Club at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. The Mouseketeer Clubhouses at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa; Harbor Club at Disney’s BoardWalk; Cub’s Den at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge; and Simba’s Cubhouse at Disney’s Animal Kingdom also offer childcare facilities.
  • Sports & Recreation -- From backhands to backstrokes to backswings. Sports-minded folks choosing to stay at a Walt Disney World hotel enjoy a variety of outstanding playtime activities -- including tennis, swimming and golf. Resort guests can take a break from the theme parks and catch some rays at one of the many themed resort pools. Water park fans can slip and slide into fun at Blizzard Beach or catch a wave at Typhoon Lagoon. Boating rentals are available at a variety of resort marinas. Several Walt Disney World hotels offer workout facilities. Additional activities available to resort guests include canoeing, water skiing, guided bass fishing excursions, surfing, parasailing, horseback riding, carriage rides, playgrounds, croquet and shuffleboard.
  • Lights, Camera, Action! -- Pass the popcorn, please. Disney cartoons and full-length Disney films are shown nightly at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground to resort guests at no additional charge. An old-fashioned sing-along and marshmallow roast highlight the evening.
  • Shopping Adventures -- Shop till you drop. Logo, character and specialty merchandise is available at every Walt Disney World resort hotel. Just minutes away, Downtown Disney offers additional shopping options including the largest Disney shopping experience on the planet, World of Disney. And packages can even be delivered to any Disney resort.
  • Dining Options -- Never go hungry. More than 300 dining facilities offer everything from hot dogs and hamburgers to fine dining and spa cuisine. Special kids menus are offered at many Walt Disney World restaurants.
  • Themed Dinner Shows -- Dine and be entertained. Two themed dinner shows featuring a cast of singers and dancers await guests at “Polynesian Revue,” a South Pacific luau at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, and “Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue,” a down-home, wild-west cookout at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
