LPWire: Solar Surf Through Etherium With Treasure Planet for GBA

Disney Interactive Inspires Kids to Explore and Solar Surf Through Etherium With Treasure Planet for Game Boy Advance

Disney Interactive is launching Treasure Planet for Game Boy Advance, a handheld adventure developed by renowned Bizarre Creations that will inspire kids to explore and solar surf through Etherium in search of the "loot of a thousand worlds." Available today, the new title allows players to jump into the boots of Jim Hawkins and experience the action of Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming animated feature film, Treasure Planet.

Treasure Planet for Game Boy Advance combines 15 levels of exploratory action with four levels of solar-surfing gameplay, creating an exciting experience for children of all ages. The escapade begins with Jim's discovery of the map to Space Pirate Flint's Trove and takes players on an amazing trip through an alternate universe. Using an over-the-shoulder view, gamers have a unique 3D perspective as they delve deep into a storyline filled with diverse missions that include and go beyond adventures portrayed in the film.

Accompanied by Jim's sidekick, Morph, and guided by his mentor, Dr. Doppler, players will face numerous challenges, from finding the pieces to Jim's solar surfer, to battling fearless pirates and superpower robots. Boys and girls must harness Morph's powerful abilities, as well as perfect their kicking, punching, climbing and sliding skills, in order to successfully maneuver through each unique locale, such as planet Montressor, the RLS Legacy space ship and Treasure Planet. In addition, they need to pay close attention to friends they meet along the way who provide important clues about valuable items hidden throughout Etherium.

Fans who can't get enough of the film are treated with clips from the movie and incorporated into the game.

Based on one of the greatest adventure stories ever told -- Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island -- Walt Disney Pictures' exciting new animated space adventure, Treasure Planet, follows 15-year-old Jim Hawkins' fantastic journey across a parallel universe aboard a glittering solar space galleon. Guided by the ship's charismatic cyborg cook John Silver, Jim blossoms to become a fine spacer as he and the alien crew battle supernovas, black holes and ferocious space storms. But even greater dangers lie ahead when Jim discovers that his trusted friend Silver is actually a scheming pirate with mutiny in mind. The film opens nationwide Nov. 27.

"We're very excited to introduce kids to a timeless classic through a game such as Treasure Planet for Game Boy Advance," said Sanjeev Lamba, vice president, International, Disney Interactive. "Centered around a great adventure through unknown worlds and filled with two types of engaging gameplay, the new title has something for boys and girls of all ages."

Treasure Planet for Game Boy Advance sails onto store shelves today for a suggested retail price of $29.99. Also available are Treasure Planet: Battle at Procyon for PC, an action strategy for the entire family, and three separate Treasure Planet PC mini arcade games: Broadside Blast, Etherium Rescue and Treasure Racer. Console titles include Treasure Planet for PlayStation2 and PS one computer entertainment systems.
