LPWire: NFFC Kick-Off 2003 Update
NFFC Kick-Off 2003 Update
Just a quick update - NFFCs Kick-Off 2003.
Hi All -
A couple of days to go until we kick off the Kick-Off and weve got a late update -
We still have a few details to wrap up - but its really come together for a great weekend of wall-to-wall Disney fun. Joining us for our luncheon will be Robert Olszewski with a show & tell & Q & A of the new projects from the Olszewski Studios.
The NFFCs good friend Alice Davis will be joining Harriet Burns and Rolly Crump for our Tribute Seminar for Mary Blair. Disney Company Archivist Dave Smith will be joining us to moderate the discussion and hes also bringing a few items from the Archives along. Marys son Kevin will also be joining us as a guest and hell be bringing along a few pieces of his mothers work as well as her hardhat.
Well also be running a couple of silent auctions - a big hit from last years National Convention - with some really cool items - some cast member exclusive and limited edition - as well as our club raffles.
So - our Updated schedule for Saturday, January 18th looks like this -
8:00am - 9:00am - Check-In and Registration
9:00am - 9:15am - Welcoming remarks from NFFCs President, Jay Aldrich
9:15am - 10:30am - Greg Gunther will be joining us for breakfast with a presentation on DCAs new Aladdin-A Musical Spectacular currently getting rave reviews in cast and media previews.
10:45am - 11:30 - Tony Garrison will be giving us a peak at the merchandise planned for the Pirates of the Caribbean Celebration planned as the feature is released.
11:45am - 12:30pm - The Walt Disney Studio still has a presentation planned and we have yet to hear who is coming or what theyre presenting - so Surprise! - all we know is that theyre bringing clips and something cool.
12:45pm - 1:30pm - Author Carlene Thie will be joining us to share some news about the future of her successful Disneyland photo documentary books.
1:45pm - 4:00pm - Luncheon and a visit from the talented folks at the Robert Olszewski Studios. Bob has asked for some time to talk to his collectors and to show off his latest sculptures.
4:15pm - 5:30pm - Our Tribute seminar for Mary Blair - featuring three people who worked with her and knew her well - Harriet Burns, Alice Davis and Rolly Crump - and moderated by Dave Smith.
5:45pm - ? - If time and our speakers permit there will be an autograph session following our last seminar.
7:00pm - 10:00pm - The NFFCs Hospitality Suite will be open and Room Hopping will be in full swing. Stop on by the Monterrey Room for a quick snack and some pin trading.
Were happy to have Disney Artist Dick Duerrstein joining us again at Sundays Strictly Disneyana Show & Sale for his own brand of art lessons - anyone who was in the audience for Dicks seminar at last Julys National Convention knows that art is in the eye - and hand - of the beholder. Dicks great fun and its always a pleasure to have him join us.
It seems that the Kick-Off event always comes together in the last week - and this years event is no different. Well be accepting walk-up registration as well as walk-up membership - so if this sounds like fun, come on by and join us. This years Kick-Off - the NFFCs 9th Annual - will be held at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Garden Grove - on the south-west corner at Harbor Boulevard and Chapman Avenue in Garden Grove about a mile and a half South of the Disneyland Resort.
Standard registration is $65 and includes all seminars, Breakfast Buffet and the "NFFC Luncheon with a Disney Legend," plus early admission to Sunday's Show & Sale. The convention is open to NFFC members only. NFFC Membership is $24 ($30 Canadian, $40 International) for the whole family and includes a subscription to the NFFC monthly newsletter. Membership and convention registration will be available on-site.
