Childrens Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) will hold its 13th annual CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk in the Park on Sunday, October 5 at 7:30 a.m. to kick-off the hospitals year-long 40th anniversary celebration. In its second year at the Disneyland Resort venue, this years CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk in the Park is anticipated to be the most exciting and successful yet, with an expected turnout of more than 10,000 walkers and volunteers.
Walk participants will be cheered along the way by Disney characters as they stroll a 5K (3.1 miles) route through Disneyland and Disneys California Adventure before the parks publicly open. Its biggest fundraiser of the year, the event directly supports CHOC and CHOC at Mission, its related programs. The annual walk also features a variety of live entertainment in Downtown Disney ® District, along with many other exciting opportunities, and is the only event of its kind to take place at the Disneyland Resort.
The morning begins with a colorful start on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland to be highlighted by fireworks from Sleeping Beauty Castle. Walkers will follow a route through the famous parks lands, cross the esplanade between the parks, and then continue through Disneys California Adventure. The walkers will head toward the finish line in Downtown Disney, where fun festivities will celebrate everyones success.
With a limit of 15,000 walkers, early registration is encouraged. Please call the CHOC Walk event line at (714) 289-4000 or visit www.chocwalk.org to register or find out more information.
Since its first Walk in 1991, CHOC has raised more than $4.3 million. Last years event brought in over $600,000 and saw participation by more than 9,000 community members, businesses and CHOC families.
