Walking Dinosaur, Latest Innovation in Audio-Animatronics(R) to be Unveiled
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is celebrating 90 years of scientific wonder and discovery, and as home to Los Angeles’ largest collection of dinosaur specimens is the perfect venue to introduce the latest “dinosaur discovery?.
A new dinosaur, unlike any discovery before, was recently unearthed in Glendale, California. His name is Lucky, and he is the first free walking Audio-Animatronics figure from Walt Disney Imagineering. This classic Disney technology was introduced at Disneyland(R) 40 years ago with the singing birds and flowers at The Enchanted Tiki Room, and has progressed over the years to include moving and speaking figures at every Disney park worldwide. The next generation 21st century Audio-Animatronics figure, Lucky can smile, sneeze, snort, grin, bray and bellow, and interact with guests.
This announcement is being made on the heels of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County’s excavation of Thomas the T.rex, a rare new specimen brought back from Montana earlier this summer. Currently several of Thomas’ impressive teeth are on display, while the remainder of his skeleton is being worked on.
Thursday, August 28, 10 a.m. – Lucky will only appear at the museum today.
