Napa Rose Awarded Wine Spectator 'Best of Award of Excellence'
Napa Rose, the premier restaurant in Disneys Grand
Californian Hotel® at the Disneyland® Resort, has been awarded a Wine Spectator Best
of Award of Excellence for the very first time. The Best of Award of
Excellence recognizes restaurants that go above and beyond the requirements for the
epicurean magazines coveted Award of Excellence.
The prestigious honor is bestowed upon restaurants demonstrating extraordinary dedication
to their wine service year-round. The wine lists must display an impressive realm of
vintages and offerings ranging from top producers to rarities. Out of the millions of
restaurants worldwide, only 463 were honored in 2003 with this outstanding achievement.
Results appear in the magazines August 31 issue.
It is our dedication to knowledge and service that sets us apart, explains
Michael Jordan, general manager of Napa Rose, as well as our highly trained and
exceptional staff. Napa Rose has 26 wine mavens who have passed the first-level
sommelier exam administered by the Court of Master Sommeliers a stellar achievement
on its own. The wine experts at Napa Rose include chefs (such as Executive Chef Andrew
Sutton), cooks, servers, hosts and bartenders. The Disney team members pride themselves on
a commitment to presenting guests with a wine list that is easy and fun to explore, rather
then a daunting challenge.
For a restaurant that focuses on California wine country cuisine and whose lists consist
mostly of California wines, it is very rare to receive this high honor. Napa Rose has an
extensive list of wines and features up to 60 by the glass each day. It offers 400 wines
and maintains a stock of at least 975 different labels with a cellar loaded with more than
17,000 bottles on any given day. With such a breadth of choice, Napa Rose takes particular
pride in offering guests the enjoyment of a glass of California cult favorites that many
may not be able to purchase by the bottle for themselves.
Opened in January 2001, Napa Rose is quickly changing perceptions for restaurant quality
and excellence. It received the top newcomer ranking throughout Orange County from Zagat
Survey in 2002 and is rated number one for food in its 2003 edition. Other 2002
honors include being named among Best New Wine Lists by Food & Wine magazine and its
selection as Best West Coast Hotel Dining Room by Sante magazine. In two short years, Napa
Rose has created an unparalleled reputation with its team highly motivated to ensure that
guests continue receiving the exceptional standards of quality and service they deserve.
