LPWire: WDCC Releases Oogie Boogie Man and Zero's Doghouse Scupltures

The Walt Disney Classics Collection
Receives A Visit From The "Oogie Boogie" Man, Just in Time for Halloween . . .
or the Holidays
New Fine Porcelain Sculptures Showcase Ghastly Villain and Unique Dog House From Tim
Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas
For fans of the hit 1993 stop-motion animated film Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas the collecting nightmare continues as the Walt Disney Classics Collection adds the ghastly Mr. Oogie Boogie and a most unusual dog house to its popular Nightmare Before Christmas scene, just in time for Halloween . . . or the holidays. The new sculptures, each of which comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, accurately depict the graveyard tombstone home of Jack Skellingtons ghost dog Zero (Zero sculpture available separately) and the menacing gambling antics of the films villain, Mr. Oogie Boogie.

The sculpture of Mr. Oogie Boogie, entitled Im Mr. Oogie Boogie (7 ¾ high - SRP: $150 US / $238 CAN) features a 10th anniversary backstamp commemorating the films 1993 premiere and features pewter dice and pewter bugs. Zeros Doghouse features such plussing elements as a pewter fence and a pewter cross. Im Mr. Oogie Boogie, created by noted sculptor Patrick Romandy-Simmons, and Zeros Dog House (4 ¼ high - SRP: $59 US / $94 CAN), sculpted by Larry Nikolai are available now at select Walt Disney Classics Collection retailers worldwide.
Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas has a tremendous collector following and, based on the popularity of our previous sculpture releases from the film, we decided to add Mr. Oogie Boogie and Zeros graveyard home to the Walt Disney Classics Collection, states Michael Young, director of Walt Disney Art Classics. We think fans of the film and the Walt Disney Classics Collection will enjoy these new sculptures for Halloween, the holidays and all year-round.
Premiering in New York City on October 13, 1993, Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas was heralded by critics and audience alike for its unusual design and twisted charm. Based upon a story and character designs created by Tim Burton himself, the film is indeed one of the most unique ever released by the Walt Disney Studios and perhaps the most elaborate stop-motion animated film ever produced. As a symbol of its groundbreaking style, 21 set pieces, props and puppets from the film (out of the 227 custom-designed for the film) were offered in a highly successful auction at Sothebys in New York City on December 16, 1993.
The Walt Disney Classics Collection is renowned for its faithful recreation of unforgettable moments from Disneys animated films. The collection features a broad array of sculptures ranging in suggested retail price from $50 to more than $2,000. Created by Disney sculptors and artists, each sculpture is meticulously crafted out of fine porcelain or resin and is hand-painted according to the films original color palettes. Sculptures are often enhanced with mixed materials such as precious metals, stones, pearls and crystals.
The collection is developed and distributed by Walt Disney Art Classics, the art and collectibles division of Disney Consumer Products, which also administrates the popular Walt Disney Collectors Society and oversees the Disney Showcase Collection (a portfolio of high-end licensed Disney collectibles) and the animation art portfolios of The Walt Disney Studios. The Walt Disney Classics Collection is available at fine gift and collectible stores, select Disney Stores, DisneyStore.com, Disney catalog and Disney Theme Parks and Resorts around the world.
