LPWire: Company Members of Disney's Lion King to Perform to Benefit AIDS Action
THE LION SINGS TONIGHT: Company Members of Disney's The Lion King to Perform an Evening of Song and Dance to Benefit AIDS Action
On Monday, Nov. 15th only, members of the cast of Disney's The Lion King will donate their time and talent to shake loose and sing some of their favorite songs from the world of cabaret, pop, rock and R&B, at a special performance called The Lion Sings Tonight as a benefit for AIDS Action of Massachusetts and Broadway Cares -- Equity Fights AIDS. This special performance of song and dance will be held at the new Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts located at 527 Tremont Street in Boston's South End. The Lion Sings Tonight starts at 7:30 p.m. Regular tickets are $50 and $75 for the VIP package which includes the best seats in the house and a special post performance reception with the cast. This performance is a chance for the public to see members of the cast of Disney's The Lion King up close in the new 360-seat Virginia Wimberly Theatre. "We thank the Calderwood Pavilion for donating their beautiful new space and are thrilled that the cast of The Lion King is so generously taking time out of their one day off to donate their talent to help fight HIV/AIDS," said Rebecca Haag, Executive Director of AAC. Whenever the company of The Lion King is in a town for a long enough run, they traditionally produce a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and a local AIDS organization.
The evening will be Emceed by Barry Tatelman, a long-time fan of Broadway musicals and half of the famous 'Barry and Eliot' brothers of Jordan's Furniture and Kasey Kaufman anchor/reporter for CBS4.
AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, Inc.
