Jetix Celebrates 1st Anniversary with New Programming
Jetix, the high-energy programming block built on action, adventure, daring and humor, kicks off its sophomore year on Toon Disney and ABC Family with the greenlight of a new original animated series "Get Ed" from Walt Disney Television Animation, and additional season pick-ups for three key original series -- "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!," "W.I.T.C.H." and "Power Rangers: Mystic Force" (working title), it was announced today by Gary Marsh, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Production, Disney ABC Cable Networks Group.
In making the announcement, Marsh said, "Jetix on
Toon Disney and ABC Family has become a favorite destination for boys, perfectly
complimenting Disney Channel's success with girl viewers. We believe the
addition of more originals in the shape of 'Get Ed' and 'Power Rangers: Mystic
Force' to our lineup of standout performers including 'Super Robot Monkey Team
Hyperforce Go!' and 'W.I.T.C.H.' will be a huge draw with fans of action
adventure programming."
The Jetix block on ABC Family delivers the richest concentration of Boys 2-11,
79%, of all kids television platforms. On Toon Disney, the Jetix block also
delivers a predominantly boy concentration at 72%.
With a first season order of 26 half-hour episodes, "Get Ed" joins the Jetix
lineup in Fall 2005. Produced by Walt Disney Television Animation, the series
follows the adventures of Ed, genetically created from an ancient artifact, who
works as a surreptitious cybersleuth, foiling identity thefts and solving other
information-based crimes while toiling at a futuristic messenger service.
Humanity's best hope for defeating a massive evil - Bedlam, Ed and his buddies
live and do battle in the hyper-jacked, futuristic world of Progress City.

Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!

The second season of "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!" which consists of 13 new half-hour episodes, is set to premiere in Fall 2005. This fast-paced, futuristic anime-style action series pits the forces of Ultimate Evil against a scrappy band of high-tech monkey warriors, led by a resourceful 13-year-old boy named Chiro. The series is produced by Walt Disney Television Animation.

"W.I.T.C.H.," an animated action
series based on Disney Publishing's comic magazines of the same name that have
quickly become an international sensation, will add 26 half-hours in its second
season which debuts in Fall 2005. Combining epic adventure, magic and comedy
through the lives of the five young heroines (Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and
Hay-Lin) designated to maintain the natural order of the universe… at the same
time they cope with the daily trials and tribulations of being teenagers, "W.I.T.C.H."
is a production of SIP Animation.
"Power Rangers: Mystic Force" (working title), the 14th edition of the world's
most popular kids' action/adventure franchise, will debut in early 2006 with 32
half-hour episodes. Featuring adventure, action, comedy and drama while teaching
valuable lessons about the importance of working as a team, "Power Rangers:
Mystic Force" takes place on present-day Earth with five teens descended from an
ancient race skilled in the art of spell casting.
Premiere dates and the complete 2005-06 season schedule for Jetix on Toon Disney
and ABC Family will be announced at a later date.
