Also featured are deleted songs, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and in-depth look at the personal correspondence between Walt Disney and author Dodie Smith, and much more.

Commenting on the announcement, Breier said, We can't think of a better way to start off the new year than with this special big screen engagement of Disney's beloved animated classic, '101 Dalmatians.' Moviegoers are going to have a blast seeing this all-time favorite digitally projected at the El Capitan Theatre. Having Goofy on hand to introduce his latest animated short adds to the fun and excitement. This is a great way to experience one of Walt Disney's best films, and a terrific way to let fans of the film know that the Platinum Edition will soon be available for their home library.

Originally released in 1961, 101 Dalmatians was based on the book by Dodie Smith, and directed by Wolfgang Woolie Reitherman, Hamilton Luske, and Clyde Geronimi. The film follows the adventures of two doting Dalmatians - Pongo and Perdita - who take matters into their own paws by arranging for their respective masters - Roger and Anita - to get hitched.

A short time later, Perdita produces 15 spotted puppies, and attracts the unwanted attention of Anita's evil colleague, Cruella De Vil, who covets a Dalmatian fur for her collection. When Cruella and her bumbling henchmen kidnap 99 puppies and set into action their sinister plan, chaos is unleashed and the fur really flies.

The first Disney feature to use the Xerox process for transferring the animators' drawings to cels, Dalmatians was a huge hit in its initial release and four subsequent reissues. With its inspired story by Bill Peet (a legendary Disney story man), the film is considered to be among the best adaptations in the Studio's history
