(April 11, 2008) April is the month when two significant milestones are passed in the Disney theme park universe. Both anniversaries feature prominently in the upcoming issue of Tales from the Laughing Place Magazine.

The feedback we received concerning our Epcot at 25 issue was phenomenal but the success left us wondering how we could continue to maintain the high standards that our readers have come to expect, Tales publisher Lee J MacDonald explains. We decided that we had to follow up the issue with the creation and development of Disneys Animal Kingdom in observance of the 10th anniversary this month. The article is as expansive as our Epcot feature and is told by the parks founding creative executive Joe Rohde. Joe offers up a comprehensive history of Disneys Animal Kingdom from the earliest pitches to management that were told through a series of 3x5 cards that laid out the conceit through to the parks final design. Along the way he talks extensively about such unrealized concepts as Beastly Kingdomme and Natures Headquarters. The feature is once more peppered with either rare or never-before-seen artwork from the Walt Disney Imagineering archives and the personal collection of Joe Rohde. The article will be a must for any Disneys Animal Kingdom enthusiast.

The article features never-before-seen concept art from the models, floats and costumes over a ten-page spread. Further coverage of the 25th anniversary of the first Disney theme park on foreign soil will be provided in Issue 13 with a historic retrospective of the parks history, the development of the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel with the projects architects and a photo essay of the anniversary festivities and Jubilation!
