Future NFL Stars to Compete in 2008 Pop Warner Super Bowl at Disney World

Youth football standouts hoping to follow in footsteps of former Pop Warner stars Reggie Bush, Adrian Peterson, Donovan McNabb and Tim Tebow; 14-and-under championship game televised on ESPN networks

(December 4, 2008) The nations top youth football players are competing this week at Disneys Wide World of Sports Complex in the 52nd Pop Warner Super Bowl and hoping to join former Pop Warner players such as Reggie Bush, Adrian Peterson and Donovan McNabb as NFL stars one day.

Nearly 70 percent of current NFL players got their careers started in Pop Warner, as well as five of the past six Heisman Trophy winners (Tim Tebow, Troy Smith, Matt Leinart, Carson Palmer and Bush).

To reach the Pop Warner Super Bowl (Dec. 6-13), more than 60 youth football teams nationwide battled their way through local and regional tournaments, earning the right to say Im Going to Disney World.  Teams are competing at Disneys Wide World of Sports Complex in four divisions based on size and age Jr. Pee Wee (ages 8-10), Pee Wee (9-11 yrs.), Jr. Midget (10-12 yrs.) and Midget (11-14 yrs.) and will play on the same fields used by the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers during training camp. The Midget Championship game will air on ESPN and ESPN2 during the week of the NFL Super Bowl.

The Pop Warner Super Bowl is being played at Walt Disney World Resort for the 14th consecutive year and takes place along with the National Cheer & Dance Championships, which involves thousands of cheerleaders from across the country.  The Pop Warner Super Bowl is just one of several national youth and high school football events at Disneys Wide World of Sports Complex, such as the NFL Flag Football National Championships and various KSA football events.
