Bob talks about some great Cast Member experiences at Walt Disney World.

Recently I was again reminded of how important cast members are to a Disney vacation.

I had just boarded a Fort Wilderness bus with my traveling companion for the day - my best friend's teenage daughter - when the bus driver held up a midsize plush Eeyore.

"Who would like to watch Eeyore for me while I drive?" he asked.

Fortunately the bus wasn't crowded, because all three girls on board immediately volunteered (including my friend's daughter). Only one could, of course, but the driver gave each a business-card-size memento of the ride.

It was one of those little gestures that makes a Disney visit so special.

(Although the driver - his name was Marc if I read the card right - then blew it by insulting my football team:

Question: Why doesn't Los Angeles have a professional football team?

Answer: Because Cleveland would want one, too!

C'mon, the Browns are undefeated in 2005. Last time I sit up front with him!)

Anyway, this got me to thinking back to my favorite experiences with cast members.

During one of my early visits, I ate lunch at the top of the Contemporary Resort (where the California Grill is today). At the end of our meal, our server presented our check on a small plate. Underneath the check was a doily. As I picked up the check, my eye caught something. Artwork! Our server Marti had drawn and colored a little holiday scene and message on the doily. It was a special little gift to her guests.
