Welcome to our 20th Disneyland Update (not including special editions). Featured in this update are pictures of the new Autopia cars and lots of construction pictures with a focus on Downtown Disney, the Grand Californian Hotel and Paradise Pier.
Rehabs and Upcoming
Attractions currently or soon closed for refurbishment include:
- Fantasmic! - Returns April 14th
- Autopia - Currently closed. Reopens with a new sponsor late June.
- Haunted Mansion - Closed April 3rd. Reopens April 14th
- Main Street Cinema - Closed May 1st. Reopens September 8th.
Upcoming Events
- The "Believe ... There's Magic in the Stars" fireworks show begins nightly performances on April 14th (currently it's only on Friday and Saturday nights).
- Beginning April 3rd, Annual Passholders were able to purchase a Disney's Walk of Magical Memories brick. These bricks, customized with names and a date, will be placed between the entrances of Disneyland and Disney' California Adventure. Price is $150 (the Premium Annual Passport discount does apply). To order or for more information, visit the Bank of Main Street or call (800) 362-4533. The bricks go on sale to all guests on May 1st.
- On the evening of April 28th at 8:00p.m. the Academy of Arts and Science will host A Celebration of Life for Marc Davis. Tickets for the event are free with a limit of 2 per individual. Tickets may be requested by mail. Send a SASE to: The Academy of Arts and Sciences, 8949 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA 90211. Attention: Marc Davis event. Or you may pick up tickets in person at the Academy.
- Pirates of the Caribbean Special Event scheduled for May 20th. Tickets go on sale April 10th. Click here for details on the event and the merchandise that will be available.

Miscellanous
New Autopia Car in the Disney Gallery
At the Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square one of the new Autopia cars is now on
display. The new Autopia, sponsored by Chevron, is scheduled to open in Summer, 2000. For
more on the updated attraction, read our feature on the unveiling of the Autopia cars which includes an
interview with a Chevron executive working on the attraction. Also, several of our past Disneyland Updates include pictures of the Autopia
construction.

The car on display is the sporty model, nicknamed "Sparky"
