On the morning of July 17, 2001 Disneyland celebrated its 46th birthday with a ceremony held in front of the Opera House on Main Street. In addition to Disneyland's Birthday, the Grand Opening of the new Walt Disney Story featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln was also celebrated. The highlight of the new attraction is a new show for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln featuring an amazing 3D sound system called binaural sound. With the system, guests wear headphones and it sounds as if you're really in the room where the action is occuring. The story has changed as well culminating in an Audio-Animatronic Abraham Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address.

The Ceremony
Opening the ceremony was opened with the 14-piece Americus Brass Band, one of the nation's foremost Civil War replica bands.

We are especially happy to have you here today as we premier the new Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.
