By sheer coincidence, Lindsay and I found ourselves immersed in the SuperSoap Weekend for the second time this year. Back in the spring, we were at Disney's California Adventure park during two of the four soap weekends. The event is always an entertaining experiment in social observance. As we live in the U.K., we only have a passing awareness of the ABC soaps. In the U.K., soaps air during primetime on the major networks and are watched by over one third of the total population. The shows are wholly inclusive and attract a wide spectrum of viewers from all social & ethnic classes and both sexes. The storylines are more factual-based and realistic, lacking the fantasy elements so prevalent in the U.S. counterparts.

The Disney MGM Studios park was packed to near-capacity for both days of the event, as guests arrived to interact with their favourite characters from the ABC Daytime dramas All My Children, One Life to Live, General Hospital and Port Charles, plus the popular morning talk show, The View. Guests had queued from just after sunrise to obtain the best vantage spot to find their television heroes and heroines. For this year's event, the various festivities were spread out throughout the park.
