On Thursday, July 17th, Disneyland held a small ceremony just prior to park opening to celebrate its 48th birthday. Below are a transcript of the event along with pictures and four video clips which together make up the entire event.

Announcer: Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls, welcome to Disneyland and Main Street USA as we proudly celebrate the 40th birthday of the Happiest Place on Earth. Today, we remember the words of Walt Disney as he dedicated happy place just 48 years ago.
To all who come to this happy place: welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts which have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.
Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, please welcome the Disneyland Resort Ambassador, Diana Baker.

Daina Baker: Good morning everyone. On behalf of all of us here at the Disneyland Resort, we'd like to welcome you to this happy occasion. We're delighted that you can join us. On this day 48 years ago, Walt Disney opened his Magic Kingdom for all of the world to enjoy. And today we're celebrating 48 years of dreams come true in this wonderful place we call Disneyland. And this morning we're dedicating our birthday celebration to you, our guests. For it's you, everyone, the child at heart who brings dreams to this Magic Kingdom year after year. And as we all gather here today, and we remember all of the fond memories of how it all began. We will never lose sight of one thing, that it all started with a mouse.
