70. Designer Times Takes a Breather

When Doobie asked me to do a few stories for LaughingPlace almost (6) years ago, I had no idea that there was so much to write about. Telling these tales has sort of been like the old Ralph Edward's "This is Your Life" TV series. It forced me to dredge up long forgotten memories and match them with a lot of early record material. The result has been a nice rerun for me of all the exciting projects I was asked to participate in. And I trust a lot of fun for Doobie's loyal readers.

But now is the time to calm down from the Eternal Story Deadline and contemplate the big picture of Life. Many have asked over the years if I would write a book sometime. Yes, the book is planned and will be part of a wonderful future series all about the creativity of Walt Disney.

Meantime, I'll be wildly busy continuing with my ongoing world wide travel, home redesign projects, soaring, and of course my mountain biking passion.

I've reached my 75th year and there's a ton of "get-around-to-it's" still on the to-do list. And no doubt WDI, Disneyland, and the NFFC will call with some new ploy to drag me to some future event. From time to time, maybe there will be an occasional encore Designer Times for you to enjoy.

[Ed Note: Thanks Bob. Everything you've done is appreciated by me, and especially the LaughingPlace.com readers]

Since Disney he's worked on the sinking ship at Las Vegas' Treasure Island, Universal Studios' King Kong, Godzilla for the film by the same name and much more. Among his proudest accomplishments he lists "making Walt tickled pink that some of the things he wanted to build actually worked. You could tell how proud he was when he would show off things to his friends and the press. Lincoln and the Monorail were two big ones for him."

All speculation and rumors about the future of Disneyland and the Walt Disney Company are just that - speculation and rumors - and should be treated as such.
