A Roundup of Community Leaders

A presentation detailing a year’s worth of community outreach could be quite stuffy in the wrong hands. Matt Ouimet and the crew from the Disneyland Resort made their 2006 Roundup of Community Leaders anything but. The evening kicked off at the Big Thunder Ranch with hors d’oeuvres and warm greetings from Disneyland’s Ambassadors and a couple of famous characters.

As community leaders from throughout Orange County mingled, members of the Disneyland Resort staff circulated through the crowd. Soon, however, it was time to head into the Festival Arena for the formal presentation.

Formal was hardly the word for what was set up inside. On stage, Billy Hill and the Hillbillies were performing, looking right at home surrounded by hay bales, barrels and lanterns.

As they wound up their well received set, an announcer invited all to enjoy a “movie under the stars.�? The arena darkened, and the screen was filled with the classic image of Walt Disney delivering the dedication speech for Disneyland. Fifty years worth of images followed in a short promotional film for the 50th birthday.
