David recounts a recent visit to Storytellers Cafe at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.

So, this is the setup: We were taking a good friend through the park, and she wants a hamburger. Not just a dried up, tasteless patty; she wants the meat medium rare, with the bun soaking up the juice. She knows exactly what she wants. And we know where to take her.

The beginning of a love affair…

I love this place. Of all the food places throughout the resort, I keep coming back to this one. It works for a casual lunch or a fancy dinner. The Storyteller Café is within the grounds of the Grand Californian Hotel. It is a little pricier than your usual Disney fare, but it is worth every extra penny. This place contains some of the best food at the Resort. And along with the dining is the great ambiance that is expected of Disney.

Words around the outside tell you what to expect inside.

The Entryway

I have always been an ardent fan of the homey restaurant, as well as the Craftsman/Prairie school of architecture. The natural colors, indirect lighting, home-style cooking. A place where thought and feeling has gone into the décor AND the menu. This place has both, yet the atmosphere is accessible. Not too elegant or rarefied for a theme park. The theming fits right into the Craftsman feel of the entire hotel grounds. There are no loud signs, no harsh noises. It’s like a gift you stumble onto as you walk through the wooded grounds.
