A look at this year's Halloween festivities at Tokyo Disneyland.

Tokyo Disneyland Halloween Event

Halloween events at Tokyo Disneyland started on September 12 and run through October 31. The Jack-o-lanterns and Halloween decorations can be seen around the park. Even Mickey's flower bed in front of the main gate was changed to pumpkin color.

And on September 12, October 30 and 31, guests are invited to enter the park dressed as their favorite Disney characters costume for Halloween (wearing Disney costumes is limited to these three days on). They do have the following guidlines:

  • Only costumes which represent characters from Disney animated films or attractions in a Disney Park are permitted.

  • Costumes cannot be worn during periods other than the Disney's Halloween special event, or to Tokyo DisneySea (except children age 11 and under, who may wear costumes at any time to either Park).

  • For safety reasons, guests in costumes may not be allowed to ride some attractions. You may be requested to remove items or costume pieces deemed dangerous or that might become caught.

  • Guests are asked to refrain from using the restrooms and wheelchair accessible restrooms both inside and outside the Park for changing clothes.

  • For costumes that use swimwear or that are overly revealing, please wear something beneath them, such as a skin-colored leotard, etc. Guests may be refused admission or asked to leave if the Tokyo Disneyland Cast Members judge their costume or behavior to cause discomfort to other Guests

In spite of a rainy day on September 12, hundreds of guests wearing Disney characters costume were at in Tokyo Disneyland. Most of them posed when we asked to take their photograph - princesses in different Disney classic movies, the Evil Queen pushing a stroller, a group photo of Alice, Fairly God Mother and Blue Fairly, etc. Because of bad weather the World Bazaar became a large photo location. Most guests make their costumes by themselves.

The daytime program, Disneys' Halloween Parade Scream & Shout, features the Disney characters and the mischievous ghosts riding on floats with Halloween designs such as Stitch on a skeleton, Chip & Dale on a pumpkin, Daisy on a vampire and Mickey on a pirate ship. There will be plenty of laughter and screaming during this fun parade! About 110 of the performers including Disney characters participate in this parade. The parade stops 3 places and performs a 5 minutes show. It is about 10 minutes in total length and consists of:

After the sun goes down, the show Kooky Spooky Halloween Night is performed at the Castle Forecourt Stage in front of Cinderella Castle. Just as the Disney characters are about to begin a Halloween rock roll party, the Disney villains arrive and try to crash it! Maleficent appears on the balcony of the Castle and the party is taken over. Maleficent calls the villains and flames break out around the Castle. Then Mickey appears on the top of tower of the Castle and makes a battle against the villains with his pals and guests by the power of screaming. Can Mickey, his pals and guests save Halloween party? This show is performed not only the Castle Forecourt Stage but also the parade route. When villains act violently, bats, spiders, skeletons and pumpkins are reflected on the wall of the Castle.

This is the first nighttime show performed for Halloween event and scheduled twice in a day. Find out in Kooky Spooky Halloween Night!

The best place to see the show is from the Central Viewing Area. Due to limited seating, however, seats are only available through a lottery system. Lotteries begin at 12:00 noon and continue until 30 minutes prior to the start of each performance. Each group may attempt the lottery only once for each entertainment program per day. When attempting the lottery, please be sure to bring the tickets for all members of your group. Tickets used to attempt the lottery must be valid. Tickets not yet used for Park admission or already used on other dates are invalid. If you are successful in the lottery, you will receive Central Viewing Area admission tickets equal to the number of tickets in your group.
