LaughingPlace.com turns 8 years old today.

LaughingPlace.com turns 8 years old today. I always like to start my annual birthday Editor's Report with our original logo and there it is up above. Of course we've come along way since then. Among the changes are many different versions of the site logo and the site itself. In fact, one of our major changes this past year was an updated look for LaughingPlace.com. Also new this year were the addition of Blogs, the return of LP Radio, the return of the LaughingPlace Podcast and greatly expanded Walt Disney World guides and Movie guides. We also continue to expand on and improve The Latest, LP Lotion and two of our oldest and most defining features, our Daily Headlines and Upcoming Events. At least as important are some major changes we've made behind-the-scenes that make maintaining LaughingPlace.com easier. Readers don't directly see these changes, but you certainly benefit from them.

As always, there are many more things we'd like to accomplish with LaughingPlace.com in the coming year but our basic goal remains the same - to be the best source of Disney news and information on the Internet, and to have the best community for Disney fans to come together and talk Disney and everything else (I think that sentence makes it into this every year). That was our goal when we began in 1999 and that remains our goal today.

Rebekah and I obviously do much of the daily work for LaughingPlace.com, but there are dozens of other writers, photographers, contributors, podcasters and others - past and present - who help without whom there'd be no website. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I also want to give a special thanks to three long-time contributors - Dave Mastanich, Doug Marsh and Denise Owsley - who've done a great job of covering everything on the West Coast since Rebekah and I moved to Florida 3 1/2 years ago. And a special thank you to our Discussion Boards moderators who do a very difficult and mostly thankless job very, very well.

The result of their hard work along with the postings of so many wonderful community members is the LaughingPlace.com Discussion Boards. And once again this year many Board readers got together on Disneyland's birthday for the annual meets. Doug Marsh has created a lengthy pictorial chronicling the day.

And lastly, thanks to our advertisers, especially Mouse Ear Vacations and Howard Johnson: Anaheim. Without them there would be no LaughingPlace.com today.

On behalf of Rebekah, thank you everyone and we look forward to the next year and far beyond!

Doobie.
