The Toon Talk Top 10 - 2009:
Princesses, puppets and pixies … oh my! 2009 had its fair share of classic Disney entertainment, on screens both big and small, from grumpy old men to swashbuckling heroes to all of terra firma. To celebrate the Disney year that was, Toon Talk proudly presents its ninth annual Toon Talk Top 10:
#1 - PINOCCHIO
A true masterpiece of animated storytelling, this all-time favorite tale of a little woodenhead who yearns to be a real boy was lovingly revisited in deluxe, high definition fashion. When you wish upon a star, this is what you’ll receive.
#2 - UP
Pixar continued their winning streak, for both critics and audiences alike, with their tenth toon hit, an unlikely adventure starring a crusty curmudgeon, a floating house and a talking dog. An Up-lifting, high-flying fantasy with plenty of heart.
#3 - THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG
Fairy tales, musicals, traditional animation … all made a joyful comeback with this clever and creative return to form filled with colorful characters, magical moments and tuneful tunes. Dreams do come true down in this New Orleans.
#4 - SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
The fairest one of all got a lot fairer with her high def debut this year. Extra kudos for its immersive, interactive virtual tour of Walt’s famed Hyperion Studios and the totally addictive dwarf diamond mine-themed “Jewel Jumble” game. Heigh ho indeed.
#5 - EARTH
Talk about your “True Life Adventures” … This eye-popping feature documentary (from the creators of the award-winning Planet Earth television series) is a feast for all your senses and a promising beginning for the Disneynature brand.
