Toon Talk Trivia

  1. The score by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score - Musical/Comedy. They lost to Emma's Rachel Portman.
  2. A stage version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (titled Der Glockner Von Notre Dame and containing new songs from Menken and Schwartz, as well as more adherence to the original Victor Hugo source material) has been running in Berlin, Germany for years. While it is scheduled to close this June, word has it from reliable sources (namely, Steven Schwartz) that a live action version of the musical will be filmed for The Wonderful World of Disney television show and that the show will eventually premiere on Broadway in the future.
