Bonus Feature Highlights:

  • The “Making of? featurette, titled Behind the Trees, doesn’t illuminate much, but the ‘dueling narrators’ gag elicits some laughs.
  • You would think a DVD game called Vine Surfing would actually let you do some, well, vine surfing. Nope, it’s just another trivia game. And although even the game has doo-doo jokes, if you finish all three tasks, you get a peek at some deleted scenes not included in the …
  • Deleted Scenes section. And guess what? Even more fart jokes, including Lyle’s string of (mostly unfunny) euphemisms for Ape’s gastrointestinal outbursts. (Option available to view the deleted scenes with or without anonymous audio commentary.)
  • A brief collection of Jungle Bungles (a.k.a. outtakes) shows Showerman stumbling through a couple of takes that don’t look too much different from his scripted pratfalls.

Toon Talk Trivia:

  • John Cleese (voice of the Ape named Ape), Thomas Hayden Church (Lyle Van de Groot) and Keith Scott (the ever-present Narrator) are the only original George cast members to return for the sequel. Cleese also voiced the narrator in several Mickey Mouse Works and House of Mouse episodes and co-starred in Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, whereas Church also co-starred in Tombstone.
  • Angus T. Jones (George Jr.) previously stole scenes from Dennis Quaid in The Rookie and Steve Martin in Bringing Down the House.
  • Michael Clarke Duncan (voice of the Mean Lion) co-starred in Armageddon and will be heard next as Tug in Brother Bear.
  • Director David Grossman has extensive credits in series television, including the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids series and Sabrina, the Teen-Aged Witch, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, which starred his Ursula, Julie Benz, as the vampish Darla.

Coming Soon:

  • Disney’s newest animated feature, Brother Bear, will have a rare Saturday opening on November 1st. The film features the music of Tarzan’s Oscar-winner, Phil Collins, which will also be featured in the new Disney Sing Along Songs DVD, Brother Bear: On My Way, available October 28th.
  • Fans will be Finding Nemo at home come November 4th, when the record-breaking animated blockbuster makes its DVD debut in a special 2-disc set.
  • The DVD debuts of two recent Wonderful World of Disney productions, Eloise at the Plaza (starring Julie Andrews) and Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man (starring Matthew Broderick), as well as the Lilo and Stitch Islands of Adventure DVD Game, go on sale November 11th.
  • Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, along with Brendan Fraser, Steve Martin, Jenna Elfman and the rest of the wacky Warner Brothers toon gang, all star in Looney Tunes: Back in Action, opening November 14th.
