Easter Egg Hunt:

There are at least three Easter Eggs found within Chronological Donald: Volume One:

  • On Disc One: From the Bonus Feature menu, click on Donald’s head in the third diamond on the right to see an excerpt from The Reluctant Dragon feature of Nash and Florence Gill recording an operatic duet between Donald and Clara Cluck.
  • On Disc Two: Two Eggs can be found on the Bonus Feature menu here as well. Click on Donald’s “Better Self? (the angel) to see another clip from Dragon, this time where Donald himself (in his feature film debut) shows Robert Benchley how animation is done, using the ‘set’ of Old MacDonald Duck (1941). And when you click on Donald’s “Evil Self? (the devil), you’ll see a rare promotional clip from 1940 titled The Volunteer Worker, wherein Donald is cast as an unsuccessful charity collector.
The Toon Talk Top 10 - Just Ducky:

Donald isn’t the only famous Disney duck, although as you can see by the list below, most of them are related to him in some way:

  1. In the original Silly Symphony version of The Ugly Duckling (1931), our little hero really was a duckling and not a baby swan, as in the 1939 remake.
  2. Daisy Duck’s career includes fourteen film appearances as well as featured roles in the television series Quack Pack and House of Mouse.
  3. Huey, Dewey and Louie went from their many cartoon roles to star in the DuckTales television series, followed by Quack Pack and House of Mouse as well.
  4. Sonia bravely faced the ferocious wolf in the Peter and the Wolf segment of Make Mine Music (1946).
  5. Carl Barks created Scrooge McDuck, Donald’s millionaire uncle, in 1947; Scrooge was almost exclusively a comics character until his starring role in DuckTales.
  6. Another one of Donald’s eccentric uncles, Ludwig Von Drake was first seen in the premiere episode of Disney’s Wonderful World of Color in 1961.
  7. The title fowl in The $1,000,000 Duck (1971) was well worth it: she laid solid gold eggs!
  8. Launchpad McQuack went from Scrooge’s pilot in the popular DuckTales to the sidekick of Darkwing Duck.
  9. Speaking of which, Darkwing Duck (secret identity: Drake Mallard) was the swashbuckling superhero star of his own TV series from 1991 to 1995.
  10. Check out those Elaine Benes-style dance moves of Larry the Duck in Home on the Range (2004).
