Kelly Sedinger reviews some of the latest Disney films with the general feel that the mouse has gone sadly astray lately...

We caught up a bit on our Disney movies lately, and apparently we're caught up permanently, since Disney has reportedly decided to stop making hand-drawn, traditional animated films entirely. This is yet one more example of how Disney, once a great company, somehow completely lost its mind at some point in the last five or six years. (more)

Silver Koneko (warning may be offensive to those who don't like Cirque Du Soliel) gives a brief review of Home on the Range: Mom and I went out to see "Home On The Range" yesterday evening. I finally crumbled and decided to see it, considering it's Disney's last traditionally animated 2-D film in the foreseeable future...*cries* It wasn't too bad. Some weird parts. The technicolor dancing longhorn bulls worried me a little, but they were cute. And I loved Junior the Buffalo. If I ever get a buffalo, I'm naming him Junior..(more)

A farther back in time she links to a great site - Pathea,. Be sure to bookmark it if you're any kind of animation fan at all.

Lewis in Scotland reviews the Brother Bear DVD.

Day-Vuh at The Movie Blog is excited, perhaps a little too excited, about Disney's recent flops at the box office. However he does offer a novel solution.

Etoile dreams about a non-animated version of the Black Cauldron:

I reread an old favorite last night, The Black Cauldron, simply because I really wanted to. I've always thought that, if I get to have a position of prominence in the film world someday, my number-one goal will be to get an actual adaptation of those books made, not some horrible useless utter bastardization of the source material masquerading itself under the same name (i.e., the Disney movie The Black Cauldron).

Last night I did some mental casting. It struck me that Emma Watson would make an excellent Eilonwy. And that Viggo, a little older, would make a great Gwydion. This all came about when, for some reason, I started hearing Eilonwy talk in Hermione's voice. Ahahahaha. (more)

Findbrain notes Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky DVD was released in the US by Buena Vista has a few things to say about the voice casting and subtitles.

I just watched Spirited Away for my first time and must say I'm impressed with the vision and the story. At 125 minutes it is a little long for the attention span of American youth, but it shows that there are still good stories being told out there that work just find with traditional Hand drawn 2-D animation.

Earlier in his blog, Findbrain has this to say about Spirited Away:

It's a beautiful film. There isn't a moment in it that doesn't make you shine inside, the way you used to when watching Disney films all those years ago. Considering it's viewed as a kids movie, there's a surprising amount of blood and grossness in it (No Face vomitting must surely count as one of the grossest scenes in a kids movie). But it's an amazing movie. Full of wonder. Full of incredible set pieces. It shames western animated movies, to be honest, with its design and grandeur. Hayao Miyazaki is quite rightfully viewed as a genius of animation. (more)

Fun Stuff

Check out this fun quiz which disney villian are you? (If you're interested, I was Frollo.)

Finally, I know it's not really Disney related (Disneyland is mentioned once or twice, however (and it's a great idea for a replacement for the Rocket Rods)), but with the premier dates for Episode III recently announced, I feel the time is right to link to these amazing pictures of a fan's car modification. A trend that is sure to sweep the nation and then the world.
